It's been such a lovely week, so unexpectedly after Mr. Clancy's death. I feel like celebrating! Who'll join me for a girls' night?

Oh my good Lord. I'm just completely in shock over this horrible tragedy. It feels like the heat has stirred up so much violence recently -- first the bombings, now this. Who could possibly have wanted to do harm to Mr. Clancy? He was such a sensitive, creative, compassionate and charming man. I don't think I'll be able to sleep easily until they've caught his killer. It's so...disturbing. So much death. Poor Mia has been crying in her room all evening. I think this hit her very hard, all things considered.
Is there really anything in the world that can make something like this any better?

Who could've imagined that the one day that my car refused to start and I tried to take the subway to visit my sister in the north of the City, the subway stations are all closed! Such an inconvenience. I was detained stuck in a horrible little motel for days without any signal. I didn't even know places like that existed anymore.

Well, I'm having the living room carpet redone, and I simply don't think the old coffee table is going to match the new pattern. It's a lovely coffee table in perfectly good shape, with a glass surface and hardwood legs, 4' x 3 1/2', rounded edges that are wonderful because they don't hurt nearly as much when you bump into them. If anyone is interested in buying it inexpensively, please let me know, otherwise I'll have to toss it in the trash or give it to charity, and it would be a shame for a coffee table go to waste like that.

What happened last night was terrible. All that fighting! The costumes made the whole scene positively unsettling, as though it wasn't already bad enough for such a nice party to be interrupted by violence. I was dancing with KENT CLANCY, for crissake enjoying the company, too.
I hope no one I know was injured. Mr. Paulson? Mrs. Roberts? Abby? I lost track of you early on, I do hope you got home safely. Such a terrible thing.

I wanted to extend my thanks to all of the parents and guardians who were present for last Friday's morality and self-esteem assembly. We all appreciate the support for such an important subject. It means a lot to the children to have their parents with them. Kids, you did a great job of participating! I was very proud of everyone who was well-behaved that day.
Ami's upcoming birthday party is very exciting, as well. Goodness knows what I'm going to wear for a costume, though I'm sure I'll figure something out eventually. A masquerade, how mysterious! I'm desperately looking for a babysitter for that night, actually, Mia's regular is going to be visiting her parents and won't be available. If anyone is interested or could recommend a reliable babysitter for the night of April 19th, please let me know as soon as possible.
